The essence of agricultural logistics from the perspective of managing an agricultural formation from a marketing standpoint is substantiated. It is established that marketing logistics is based on applying a systematic, integrated approach to the production and sales of agro-food products. Currently, given the state of market functioning for agricultural products, under buyer dominance, there is an urgent need for the full-scale application of marketing logistics at enterprises in the agricultural sector. A definition of the economic essence of the category “marketing logistics in the agricultural sector of the economy” is formed, which is considered as a process based on the following functions: planning, coordination, organization, regulation and control in the sphere of supply of agro-food products and raw materials in the chain from agricultural producers to consumers; this process involves the collection and analysis of information related to marketing activities in the chain of supply of agro-food products from the producer to the consumer. Research has shown that the logistics processes and activities associated with the sale of agricultural products are closely interconnected, as their commercial and physical distribution, storage, and transportation are integrated into a unified system of production and sales. Marketing activities and their main factors combine the sales and logistics activities of agricultural sector enterprises with production processes, thereby contributing to the formation of an optimal production program oriented towards consumer needs, balancing production and sales, and optimizing logistics supply chains. Proposals have been developed to improve the marketing logistics system of an agricultural sector enterprise by focusing on extending the value chain for agri-food products. Directions for improving the marketing logistics system of an agricultural sector enterprise have been identified by focusing on and extending the value chain for agri-food products.
