The article focuses on ensuring the long-term competitiveness of business entities. The relevance of the topic is driven by the need to shift from short-term adaptation to the strategic management of enterprise competitiveness, grounded in innovation, resource efficiency, and institutional flexibility. The study aims to substantiate the financial and economic determinants of long-term competitiveness for business entities in Ukraine under conditions of external environmental instability. The research systematizes the structural factors of national economic development, including natural resource potential, a favorable geo-economic location, engineering and technical education, human capital, digital modernization, infrastructure support, and the potential for “green” transformation. Their differentiated impact on various types of economic activity is characterized, and potential competitive advantages and limitations of their implementation are identified. The study substantiates that the mere availability of a resource base does not guarantee sustainable competitiveness; rather, decisive importance is attached to the ability of business entities to integrate structural prerequisites into their business models and transform them into long-term competitive advantages. It is revealed that within the architecture of a multi-sector economy, the key determinants of competitive potential formation are enterprise size and capitalization. The structure of business entities by type of economic activity and size is analyzed, revealing the numerical dominance of small enterprises and the concentration of capital in large- and medium-sized companies. The study of capital distribution dynamics enabled the identification of the relative stability of the concentration model, under which large enterprises accumulate more than one-third of the economy’s total capital, even in crisis conditions. A trend toward growth in the economy’s total capital volume has been identified. The research substantiates a financial and economic algorithm for assessing the competitiveness of business entities, according to which financial stability is the basic condition for forming competitive advantages, resource-use efficiency is the mechanism for their transformation, and business performance is the actual manifestation of the enterprise’s realized competitive strength. It has been proven that the long-term competitiveness of business entities is an integral result of the balanced interaction among financial stability, resource efficiency, and economic performance, thereby creating the prerequisites for strategic autonomy and the sustainable development of the national economy.
