The article addresses the implementation of environmental innovations in industrial enterprises in the context of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The study aims to substantiate and systematize the prerequisites for introducing environmental innovations in industrial enterprises and to determine mechanisms for further transforming the internal resources of an enterprise into competitive advantages based on the principles of sustainable development. It is substantiated that current trends in globalization, increasing environmental challenges, and strengthening regulatory requirements necessitate the introduction of advanced technologies that enhance resource efficiency, reduce negative environmental impacts, and contribute to shaping a positive corporate image. The research is based on the principles of neo-institutional and resource-based theories, which made it possible to systematize the external and internal prerequisites for environmental innovativeness. External factors include regulatory requirements, economic incentives, market demand for environmentally friendly products, sociocultural pressure from society, technological trends, and international environmental standards. Internal prerequisites encompass the resource potential of an enterprise, which includes material, financial, technological, human, organizational, reputational, and informational resources, as well as the management’s capacity for strategic leadership of innovative changes. The mechanisms for integrating environmental innovations into the strategic development of an enterprise are revealed through the formation of long-term competitive advantages. The importance of adapting environmental innovations to industry specifics and regional conditions, as well as the need for integrated strategies that combine local characteristics with global environmental challenges, is emphasized. It is established that the implementation of eco-innovations has a multiplier effect, contributing not only to environmental safety but also to improving economic performance and business resilience. Thus, environmental innovations have ceased to be a niche area of activity and have transformed into a strategic factor of competitiveness for industrial enterprises in the modern economic environment. They ensure the synergy of economic growth, production efficiency, and positive environmental impact, creating prerequisites for long-term sustainability and market leadership.
