The article explores mechanisms to develop the bioenergy potential of agricultural enterprises in the context of economic decarbonization and the implementation of sustainable development principles. The relevance of the study stems from the need to transform Ukraine’s agricultural sector in accordance with the climate commitments set by the European Green Deal, as well as to increase energy independence and the efficiency of resource use in agriculture amid modern economic and security challenges. The essence and structure of the bioenergy potential of agricultural enterprises are analyzed, and the main sources of biomass formation are identified, namely crop products, agricultural by-products, and livestock waste. The economic, environmental, and social advantages of developing bioenergy as part of the strategy for sustainable development of the agricultural sector are substantiated. Special attention is paid to institutional, financial, economic, and organizational mechanisms to stimulate the implementation of bioenergy projects at the level of agricultural enterprises. It has been established that the development of bioenergy contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, rationalizing the use of agricultural waste, increasing energy efficiency in production, and creating additional sources of income for agricultural producers. It has been shown that integrating bioenergy solutions into agricultural enterprises’ production processes is an important tool for ensuring their long-term competitiveness in the transition to a low-carbon economy. The results of the study can inform the development of sectoral strategies for the agricultural sector, the improvement of state policy on renewable energy, and the development of practical recommendations for implementing bioenergy technologies at the enterprise level. Special attention is paid to the role of innovative bioenergy technologies, the development of the biomethane direction, and the implementation of ESG approaches as key factors in the adaptation of agricultural enterprises to the requirements of European energy and climate standards.
