For a student of Geodesy and Land Management, Higher Mathematics is not merely an academic subject but the fundamental language through which the entire profession is structured. Without a solid mathematical background, a geodesist risks becoming only a technical operator rather than a competent engineer capable of analytical thinking and responsible decision-making. Geodetic observations are inevitably accompanied by measurement errors. High-precision surveys involve redundant observations, leading to overdetermined systems of equations that must be rigorously adjusted. The method of least squares and mathematical statistics, therefore, become central tools in professional practice. However, the effectiveness of these methods depends directly on students’ understanding of linear algebra, differential calculus, and probability theory. The existing gap between abstract mathematical theory and applied geodetic practice remains a significant methodological challenge in higher education. Isolated instruction in mathematical and professional disciplines often prevents students from developing an integrated system of knowledge. This paper substantiates the necessity of interdisciplinary cooperation between mathematics and geodesy instructors to ensure coherent development of professional competence. Emphasis is placed on demonstrating the practical interpretation of matrices, covariance analysis, eigenvalues, and error ellipses within real geodetic adjustment problems. Integrating fundamental mathematics with applied geodetic training enhances students’ motivation, analytical skills, and professional responsibility, transforming mathematical rigor into a practical engineering instrument rather than a purely theoretical construct.
