The paper investigates the specifics and methods of resource potential formation to promote the development of China’s regions. The purpose of the study is to identify and analyze factors that influence the formation of resource potential, as well as develop recommendations for the optimal use of these resources in the context of sustainable development of territories. The research methods include system analysis, economic modeling, comparative method, methods of statistical data processing and expert evaluation. The research results demonstrate that the formation of resource potential is a multifactorial process that depends on natural, economic, social and institutional factors. It is determined that China is characterized by specific conditions that require special approaches to resource management. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the development of new approaches to the analysis and formation of resource potential that consider the specifics of Chinese regions. The proposed methodological approaches allow for a more accurate assessment of resource capabilities and the development of effective strategies for their use in the context of sustainable development. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of applying its results to planning and implementing regional development programs. Prospects for further research include the development of innovative approaches to assessing resource potential and management, as well as the analysis of the impact of global changes on the formation and use of the resource potential of Chinese territories.
