The aim is to theoretically substantiate and develop methodological approaches to integrating the environmental component into the project analysis system, considering the principles of sustainable development to increase the environmental and economic efficiency of infrastructure projects. The article examines the place of the environmental component as a system-forming element of project analysis in the transport sector and a key tool for ensuring the principles of sustainable development. It has been established that the application of sustainable development principles during the development of infrastructure projects involves a comprehensive approach that combines technological modernization, greening of infrastructure, digitalization of management, and improvement of the institutional environment – such a transformation contributes to the formation of a low-carbon, safe, and competitive transport system capable of ensuring long-term economic efficiency and minimizing environmental impact. The feasibility of using the methodology for assessing the life cycle of technological processes, which provides for a comprehensive consideration of environmental effects from the design stage to the disposal of transport infrastructure facilities, is substantiated. It is determined that such an approach contributes to the transition from a reactive to a preventive model of environmental management, focused on preventing negative consequences. Under such conditions, environmental requirements should be considered at all stages of the project life cycle: from the formation of the concept and the justification of investment feasibility to the selection of technological alternatives, implementation, operation of the facility, and even its decommissioning or disposal. It has been proven that, during project analysis, it is advisable to use a system of environmental indicators that reflect energy efficiency, emissions volume, resource intensity, and waste generation. The integration of such indicators into the general system for assessing the project’s effectiveness enables the development of a multi-criteria model for decision-making, thereby balancing economic, social, and environmental interests within the concept of sustainable development.
