The article substantiates the role of decision-making in the strategic business process management system as a key tool for enhancing enterprise efficiency and competitiveness in the context of sustainable development. It is shown that the combination of the resource-based view, the process management model, and the Balanced Scorecard concept forms a methodological basis for building an integrated organisational and economic mechanism. The authors generalize domestic and foreign approaches to interpreting the essence of strategic business process management, its structural blocks and functions, and identify research gaps related to the insufficient integration of decision-making tools with sustainable development goals and the provision of enterprises’ economic security. The purpose of the study is to theoretically justify and systematize the structural and functional foundations of decision-making within the strategic business process management system, to strengthen enterprises’ competitive positions in a turbulent external environment. The methodological framework is based on systems, process, and resource-based approaches, as well as methods of logical–structural analysis, synthesis, and theoretical modelling. The paper proposes the authors’ vision of the structure of strategic business process management, which includes target, functional, resource, and control blocks, along with the corresponding analytical, coordination, innovation-oriented, and control–corrective functions. It is argued that the consistency of these blocks and functions forms a closed cycle of strategic management – “goals – resources – implementation – control” – within which managerial decisions ensure the adaptability, innovativeness, and resilience of business processes. The study demonstrates that a systemic approach to decision-making in strategic business process management strengthens economic security, reduces risks, shapes an innovative organisational culture, and achieves the enterprise’s sustainable development goals.
