The innovative activities and implementation of an innovative development model require reliable investment provision. The article presents the results of a study aimed at developing the methodological foundations for quantitative assessment of investment provision for innovative activities in the agricultural sector of the economy, which includes defining approaches and designing a set of indicators for such assessment. To achieve the goal, the following research methods have been used: comparative and critical analysis, generalization, abstraction, and induction. Based on the analysis of methodological approaches presented in scientific publications and reports of international organizations, different levels of assessment of investment support for innovative activity were identified: national, regional, sectoral, industrial, enterprise level, and project level. The scientific novelty of the study contains the proposed systems of indicators of this assessment for the agricultural sector, its enterprises, and projects, which consider the peculiarities of the innovation process in the agricultural sector, data availability, developed based on an approach that includes groups of “input” and “output” indicators and comply with the principle of adaptability. The developed systems of indicators of investing innovation activity at the level of the agricultural sector, its enterprises, and innovation projects can also be used to calculate the integral indicator. The proposed system of indicators can be applied to determine the state and trends in investment support for innovation activity and used to develop an innovation strategy and managerial decisions that constitute the practical significance of the author’s developments. The vision of further scientific research in this area includes testing the proposed systems of indicators, their adjustment for the specific tasks of the current stage of innovation development, the “green” economy, and the diversity of sustainable development goals.
